ROBOGASM! New Transformers 2 - Revenge Of The Fallen Trailer in HD!

I'm such a child, but this is awesome! Watch it in HD!

Disney Joins Hulu! Whoo hoo!

Well, it looks like it’s official, Disney has signed a deal with Hulu.com as a partner. Finally, LOST on a video player that actually works! Not to mention the rest of ABC’s programming, including some movies.

Hulu seems to be riding a great wave right now. They just became the third most watched video site in the world, and now three of the four major networks are streaming video on the site. CBS, are you listening?

All I need now is that "badass" iPhone app!

The deal includes shows from ABC, ABC Family, ABC Daytime, SOAPNet, Disney Channel and "popular library titles from The Walt Disney Studios." [AllThingsD]

Keith Loutit is the King of Tilt Shift Photography! Wait, what the hell is tilt shift?

I'm a huge fan of tilt shift. Tilt shift is a photographic technique that makes large or normal sized objects appear to be toys. I would get into it, but I'll let wikipedia explain it:

Tilt-shift photography refers to the use of camera movements on small- and medium format cameras; it usually requires the use of special lenses.

"Tilt-shift" actually encompasses two different types of movements: rotation of the lens relative to the image plane, called tilt, and movement of the lens parallel to the image plane, called shift. Tilt is used to control the orientation of the plane of focus (PoF), and hence the part of an image that appears sharp; it makes use of the Scheimpflug principle. Shift is used to change the line of sight while avoiding the convergence of parallel lines, as when photographing tall buildings.

In many cases, "tilt-shift photography" refers to the use of tilt and a large aperture to achieve a very shallow depth of field.

Scheimpflug principle, um, yeah... I know all about that.
All I can say is the end result looks very surreal,
and is absolutely fascinating to watch.
Keith Loutit is probably one of the best at working this photographic magic.
I really recommend watching this in HD. To watch in HD, click HERE

The Best Music Video I Have Ever Seen...

This is probably the best music video I have ever seen on the interweb. The amazing thing is, I almost didn’t watch it. Then, I noticed that it was done by an organization called playingforchange.com. So, I gave it a shot. WOW, is all I can say. Be sure to watch the entire video all the way to the end. It’s truly a well-constructed piece.

To give you a little background on it, this cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists, mostly street musicians, in a street virtual studio all around the world. It started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Ellitott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley's base track on headphones. While still in New Orleans, Washboard Chaz's added some grooving metal percussion to it.

Then, it gets a little crazy, the producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals provided by local street musicians, that were then assembled into the final version in this video. All of this was done with a basic laptop and a few microphones.

OK, so maybe not the best music video on the interweb, but certainly the best version of Ben E. King's classic I've ever heard in my life. And if you’re like me, you’ve heard a bazillion of them.

Hulu on the iPhone? Can it be?

Just when you thought mobile TV was a joke. Alley Insider reports that Hulu is developing an iPhone app that will stream over 3G and Wi-Fi, and it's "badass."

The Office, Dollhouse, Denpa Shonen, Arrested Development, oh yes. Any hope AT&T has of charging people a monthly fee for mobile TV dies with a Hulu app, especially once ABC jumps onboard and it hits other mobile platforms (which it surely will). If it truly delivers the full Hulu experience—every video with a great user interface—the potential awesomeness literally blows my mind. In all seriousness, the concept of mobile TV was not exciting until this moment. [Alley Insider]

What the hell is a Ripper?

The Ripper is a deep fried hot dog that originated at the Clifton, New Jersey landmark restaurant, Rutt's Hut.
It's a special wiener that can withstand the high temperature of deep frying. The result is a dog that's crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. While not the prettiest thing to look at, covered with a special garlicky relish, it's truly amazing to eat.

Now you can get one in the San Fernando Valley at Fab Dogs in Reseda. I highly recommend this place. Not only can you get a Ripper, the menu is a virtual trek across the country by way of specialty hot dogs. From the New York Coney Island dog, to the southern Slaw Dog, this is a trip that should be taken by any hot dog loving individual. One thing not to be missed are the home made tater tots!

A Driving Lesson From Tiff Needell of Fifth Gear

Tiff Needell of Fifth Gear (the other British TV car show) is truly the Sultan of Slide. He gives some pointers on the fine art of sliding a car in his "Burning Rubber" DVD. He makes a forward 360 look like child's play. Here's a clip:

One more of the W12 Lupo

Here's another video of the W12 Lupo starting it's engines. You can clearly see the two VR6 engines. The front one required cutting a chunk out of the hood in order to fit. The rear one is just behind the front seats. It makes my brain itch just thinking about the in-cabin noise this thing generates! But it does have a beautiful exhaust note.

Insane W12 Volkswagen Lupo Launch

Some crazy guy in Europe (I can't figure out where) decided to take VW's smallest car, the Lupo (we don't get it here in the States, but imagine a Golf that's 2/3's the size) and install not one, but two VR6 engines in it. One in the front, and one in the rear, powering their respective drivetrains.
The end result is awe inspiring. The sound of the two engines starting up and running is incredible. Not to mention how quick off the line it is!
Oh, the beauty of tons of torque and all wheel drive!

Video Dribble

Spanish Quagmire

Video Dribble

OK, I must admit, I am addicted to this Japanese game show Denpa Shonen

I discovered this one night while surfing hulu.com. It borders on human cruelty. The show ran from November 1998 until September 2002 on the Nihon TV network, when the program's cancellation was related to a government crackdown on "torture" themed shows. I love it!
Be sure to turn on the closed captioning on the bottom right.
