Like Godzilla Destroying Tokyo, New Nissan GT-R Attacks 'Ring, Bests Previous Time
The new Nissan GT-R wasn't able to best the Corvette ZR1's 7:26.4 standing Nurburgring record lap time, but Godzilla did bring the hurt with a lap time of 7:26.7 run on April 23, 2009. Now there's in-car video proof.
Nissan's Chief test driver, Toshio Suzuki hopped behind the wheel of the newly revised 2010 GT-R in an attempt to shave an additional 3 seconds off the previous 7 minute 29 second lap time. He accomplished his goal — but in the grand scheme of things, who cares if he didn't beat the competition? It’s still a helluva fast run around an extremely technical course.Monday, July 6, 2009

Live Concerts On Hulu! Rock On!
Good news from Mediaweek.com last week...
Hulu Moves to Loop in More Live Programming
May 21, 2009
Hulu—the home of a growing library of on-demand TV programming-- is expanding into more live content.
The site, a joint venture between News Corp, NBC Universal and most recently Disney, will on June 1 stream a live Dave Matthews Band concert from the Beacon Theatre in New York from 9:00 p.m. To 11:30 p.m. EST. The live-on-the-Web concert is being timed to promote the band’s upcoming new album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, which is scheduled to be released June 2.
The live event represents something of a departure for Hulu, which primarily offers full episodes of current and classic network TV shows, along with full -length movies. The site did stream President Barack Obama’s inauguration live last January.
Besides the concert, Hulu will begin offering various Dave Matthews Band videos on May 28, as well as the documentary Scenes from Big Whiskey which chronicles the making of the band’s new album, as well as clips from the band’s upcoming appearances on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and the Today Show.
The June 1 concert will also be available to viewers on demand following the live show.

Life Imitates Advertising! Mini Cows!

9:59 PM PDT, May 22, 2009
The half-sized cows barely reached Kenny's waist. The ranch's border collie stared eye-to-eye with wandering calves.
The Petersens once raised normal-sized bovines on this stretch of Nebraska's rolling eastern grasslands, but with skyrocketing feed costs, the couple decided to downsize.
They bought minicows -- compact cattle with stocky bodies, smaller frames and relatively tiny appetites.
"We get more sirloin and less soup bone," Ali said. "People used to look at them and laugh. Now, they want to own them."
In the last few years, ranchers across the country have been snapping up mini Hereford and Angus calves that fit in a person's lap. Farmers who raise mini-Jerseys brag how each animal provides 2 to 3 gallons of milk a day, though they complain about having to crouch down on their knees to reach the udders.MORE

Buy Robocop's Armor, And Go Kick Some Shiny Metal Ass

Are you worried that killer robots will destroy us all and take over the world? Would they kill or enslave what appeared to be one of their own? If these thoughts are keeping you awake at night, maybe it’s time to invest your own Anti-Killer-Robot Insurance Plan.
An eBay seller claims to have an actual Robocop prop/wardrobe suit, that may or may not have been used in Robocop 2 and 3 for “stunt/distant shots”. Allegedly, it’s one of five suits ever produced.
If you’re not worried about killer robots, hey, Halloween will be here before you know it.
Pick up your own, possibly authentic, Robocop suit for a Buy It Now price of $2,250. ebayIt's Celebrity Jeopardy! Tom Hanks At His Finest!

Cheesus Found. No, I didn't sneeze.

A Texas couple has found the likeness of Jesus Christ in the form of a Cheetos.
Sara Bell was snacking on Cheetos, purchased at a store near Houston, when she stumbled upon what appeared to be someone in a robe, praying.
Her husband Dan saw the snack and said that it resembled Jesus.
The couple has named it "Cheesus."
They've apparently wrapped the orange snack inside a tissue for safe keeping.
There's no word on whether they'll try to sell it on E-bay.
Last year, a Missouri woman made a similar discovery in a bag of Cheetos. She named her finding "Cheesus" because it looked similar to Jesus Christ on the cross.

Disney Joins Hulu! Whoo hoo!
Well, it looks like it’s official, Disney has signed a deal with Hulu.com as a partner. Finally, LOST on a video player that actually works! Not to mention the rest of ABC’s programming, including some movies.
Hulu seems to be riding a great wave right now. They just became the third most watched video site in the world, and now three of the four major networks are streaming video on the site. CBS, are you listening?
All I need now is that "badass" iPhone app!
The deal includes shows from ABC, ABC Family, ABC Daytime, SOAPNet, Disney Channel and "popular library titles from The Walt Disney Studios." [AllThingsD]Wednesday, April 29, 2009
Keith Loutit is the King of Tilt Shift Photography! Wait, what the hell is tilt shift?
Tilt-shift photography refers to the use of camera movements on small- and medium format cameras; it usually requires the use of special lenses.
"Tilt-shift" actually encompasses two different types of movements: rotation of the lens relative to the image plane, called tilt, and movement of the lens parallel to the image plane, called shift. Tilt is used to control the orientation of the plane of focus (PoF), and hence the part of an image that appears sharp; it makes use of the Scheimpflug principle. Shift is used to change the line of sight while avoiding the convergence of parallel lines, as when photographing tall buildings.
In many cases, "tilt-shift photography" refers to the use of tilt and a large aperture to achieve a very shallow depth of field.

The Best Music Video I Have Ever Seen...
This is probably the best music video I have ever seen on the interweb. The amazing thing is, I almost didn’t watch it. Then, I noticed that it was done by an organization called playingforchange.com. So, I gave it a shot. WOW, is all I can say. Be sure to watch the entire video all the way to the end. It’s truly a well-constructed piece.
To give you a little background on it, this cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists, mostly street musicians, in a street virtual studio all around the world. It started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Ellitott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley's base track on headphones. While still in New Orleans, Washboard Chaz's added some grooving metal percussion to it.
Then, it gets a little crazy, the producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals provided by local street musicians, that were then assembled into the final version in this video. All of this was done with a basic laptop and a few microphones.
OK, so maybe not the best music video on the interweb, but certainly the best version of Ben E. King's classic I've ever heard in my life. And if you’re like me, you’ve heard a bazillion of them.Playing For Change | Song Around The World "Stand By Me" from Concord Music Group on Vimeo.
